TYPES OF SPECIFIC LEARNING DIFFICULTIES

DYSLEXIA    (  reading disability) 

self notes : Dyslexia is a learning disorder that affects your ability to read, spell, write, and speak. ... About 5% to 10% of Americans have some symptoms of dyslexia, such as slow reading, trouble spelling, or mixing up words. Adults can have this learning disorder, as well.

Very common More than 10 million cases per year (India)

Treatment can help, but this condition can't be cured

Chronic: can last for years or be lifelong

Usually self-diagnosable

Lab tests or imaging not required

Dyslexia occurs in children with normal vision and intelligence.

Symptoms include late talking, learning new words slowly and a delay in learning to read.

Most children with dyslexia can succeed in school with tutoring or a specialised education programme.

Consult a doctor for medical advice
